Police are searching for a man possibly armed with a Taser after a Brampton resident tried to stop a robbery in Kitchener last week.

The incident happened on Thursday when the Waterloo Regional Police say a man was trying to steal products from a store in the area of Fairway Road South and Manitou Drive in Kitchener.

Police say they were called to the store around 7:40 a.m. for reports of a shoplifter, and that a 23-year-old Brampton man who works at the store tried to stop the suspect.

Investigators say the Brampton man “attempted to intervene and arrest” the suspect who pulled out a conducted energy weapon, commonly known as a Taser.

The man didn’t suffer any injuries in the incident and police say the suspect then fled the area.

Police are searching for the male suspect and are asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact investigators.

The suspect is described as a white male standing around 5’7” with a slim build. He was wearing a black coat, black pants, and a black baseball cap at the time of the incident.
