‘Thick black smoke’ in the air after transport trailers catch fire in Mississauga

Several transport trailers are in flames and the smell of diesel fuel burning is in the air in what Peel Regional Police are saying is the result of a commercial fire early Thursday evening (Sept. 5) in Mississauga.

The fire broke out after 5 p.m. in the 2600 Block of Drew Road near Torbram and Derry Road, where Baba Maur Transport is located.

Peel Regional Police and the Mississauga Fire And Emergency Services are currently on the scene.

“Lots of thick, black smoke and (a) strong odour (is) in the area,” said Peel police, who received reports of the fire around 5:27 p.m.

No injuries have been reported as of yet.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area if possible.

“Please do not try to come to scene to be an onlooker,” said Peel police.

Peel police are continuing to assist with traffic control.
