Teen in Brampton facing firearm charges

A 16-year-old boy faces a skein of firearms charges after a police search in Brampton turned up a loaded gun.
Peel Regional Police says that investigators, supported by the tactical unit, conducted a search warrant in the area of Creditview Road and Sandalwood Parkway on Monday (Sept. 27). They discovered a loaded nine-millimetre Walther model P99.

The 16-year-old youth appeared in a Brampton court on Tuesday (Sept. 28). He faces four charges:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
- Possession of firearm with altered serial number

A general provision of the federal Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits the release of the name of a person under 18 years old who is charged with a crime.
