Homeowners should expect to pay around $100 more on the city’s share of their property tax bill this year, and the first payment of 2024 comes due later this month.
In December, the 2024 Brampton budget laid out a 1.9 per cent increase on the city’s portion of homeowners’ property tax bills in addition to a 4.5 per cent tax increase already approved by the Region of Peel.
The nearly 2 per cent spike will mean the average property owner in Brampton can expect to pay an additional $118 per household in property tax this year compared to 2023, according to the city.
The first payment of 2024 property tax bills in Brampton is due on July 24, and the city has multiple ways for you to pay to avoid racking up monthly penalties and interest charges.
Payments can be made online through the city’s property tax portal, and will require your customer number which can be found on the upper right side of your tax bill.
You can also make payments by mail, through email or telephone banking, or in person at Brampton City Hall.
The Brampton tax hike is on top of a 4.5 per cent increase approved by the Region of Peel. That increase is expected to see the typical residential property and commercial/industrial property tax bills go up by $247 and $435 respectively.
