From genres like RnB, jazz, rock, Latin and more, Downtown Brampton will be alive with music this week for the return of the Summer Music Series.

The Downtown Brampton BIA kicked off the annual concert series as part of its Activate Downtown Brampton program earlier this month, bringing local artists to restaurants, cafes, venues and various locations in downtown Brampton.

The free concerts offer a chance for residents to explore the downtown and take in some of the city’s arts and culture while enjoying live music, dining and shopping.

Here are all the acts you can catch this week for the Summer Concert Series:

Ricky Franco – June 15 – Segovia Coffee Co.

Ricky Franco’s musical journey has seen him travel through the Americas all the way to the Middle East and collaborations with several Latin acts like Grammy award winner Ricardo Arjona, DLG, Aventura, Tito Nieves and Fito Blanko.

Matthew Leombruni – June 16 – Gallery 35

Matthew Leombruni is the bassist for local jazz-fusion act Tonefusion, which will also be playing in Brampton later this week. This set will feature Leombruni, who is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Bachelor of Music program, performing solo without the rest of the band.

Tonefusion – June 17 – Vivian Lane

Describing their band as “where RnB and hip hop meets jazz,” three-piece outfit Tonefusion’s sound draws influence from a wide range of genres and artists. You can catch their performance on Brampton’s Vivian Lane on Saturday, June 17.

Shelisa & Paul – June 17 – Downtown Brampton Food District

Vocalist Shelisa Akbar and guitarist Paul Llew-Willams are teaming up for a performance that is sure to showcase Akbar’s influences in genres like jazz, RnB, funk, reggae and more.
