Traffic stop leads to many charges for Mississauga and Toronto men.

An out-of-control car pulled over by police on a major Ontario highway Thursday afternoon has led to identity theft, drug and other charges against a Mississauga man and Toronto man.

The vehicle was being driven in a dangerous manner, swerving and cutting off other drivers, when Ontario Provincial Police say they pulled it over on westbound Highway 401 in Greater Napanee, west of Kingston, shortly after 3 p.m.

A subsequent investigation by officers who stopped the vehicle led to the two arrests and recovery of various items.

Shayne Couturnier, 53, of Mississauga, and Arshum Hossaini, 25, of Toronto, are jointly charged with:

  • failure to comply with undertaking
  • identity theft — makes, distributes another person’s information
  • possession of a credit card
  • possession of a forged document with intent
  • possession of an identity document
  • possession of cocaine

Both accused are in custody pending a bail hearing in Napanee court on Friday.
