A pair of fires including one that tore through an Ontario home is being treated as “suspicious” as investigators search for a pickup truck that could be tied to the blazes.
The OPP says officers responded to the first fire on Tuesday shortly after 10:15 p.m. on Fourteenth Street West in Simcoe, approximately 40 kilometers south of Brantford.
Three separate structures were involved in the blaze at the time of the incident according to police, and reports indicate one of the buildings was a barn.
No injuries were reported in the fire and investigators say the buildings were unoccupied when the flames broke out.
Then shortly after midnight, officers with the Norfolk OPP were called to a second structure fire on 10th Concession Road in Langton, some 26 kilometres west of the first fire.
The fire was at a home that police also said was unoccupied. Photos of the blaze shared by police showed the home completely engulfed in flames shooting out the roof and windows, with a large plume of smoke rising.
Both of the fires are being investigated as suspicious, police said.
A possible suspect vehicle was reported on 10th Concession Road, and investigators are asking anyone with information about the incidents to contact police.
The vehicle is described as a red or burgundy Ford Crew Cab pickup truck. Police say the vehicle was not located at either fire scene by first responders.
