Homicide in Brampton under investigation, police request public's assistance in identifying suspects

Police in Peel Region are asking for help in a homicide investigation.

In a release from today (Nov. 5), members of the Homicide Bureau within the Region of Peel put out an open call for any dash-cam footage pertaining to a recent murder in the Brampton area.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, around 6 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at an industrial plaza on Rutherford Road South near Selby Road in Brampton.

Once police arrived on the scene they found multiple victims within an SUV.

Police noted that 22-year-old Marsha Khadija Charmant was found suffering from gunshot wounds — she was then later pronounced deceased on the scene.

A second victim — an adult woman — was also shot and was then taken to hospital in serious condition, alongside one other adult male victim and another adult female victim.

Two other occupants found in the vehicle were not physically injured by the time police arrived.

Peel police have noted that the suspects who carried out the attack fled in an unknown vehicle.

Police have requested that anyone with dash-cam-equipped vehicles driving on Rutherford Road South between Queen St and Steeles Avenue between 5 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. contact them immediately.
