Major sunscreen brand recalled due to fungal contamination

Canadians gearing up for summer should double-check their sunscreen supply for a recalled brand that could cause health risks.

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin Sunscreen Foundation

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin Sunscreen Foundation SPF 30 at Socialite Beauty Canada recalled

The recall includes products with the following details:

  • NPN: 80109790
  • Active Ingredient: 15% zinc oxide

There are nine affected Lot Numbers:

  • 101MO
  • 106BR
  • 107IV
  • 107NU
  • 109NU
  • 113SA
  • 114SA
  • 115BU
  • 117BU

The skincare company issued an urgent recall notice on May 24 for multiple shades of its sunscreen foundation due to product separation causing an unusual odour and higher-than-acceptable levels of microbiological mould.

Consumers who bought the product from the company’s website or Amazon are advised to check the lot number on the tube to see if it is part of the recall.

It is unknown how many tubes of the sunscreen were sold in Canada.

Risks: Potential health hazards.

What you should do: Contact Suntegrity Skincare with your order details and a photo of the product to receive a refund. In addition, consumers are advised to talk to their doctor about any health concerns.

It is currently unclear whether any adverse reactions to the product have been reported, and specific details regarding potential reactions were not provided by Health Canada.
