Silvano Menanno of Brampton has won a lottery prize of more than $122,000.

Brampton’s latest lottery winner is going to pay some bills and then head for warmer weather after winning more than $122,000 this week.

Silvano Menanno lives in Brampton and has been playing Proline lottery games for over a decade, and usually plays during NFL season.

The local public servant has had a few small wins during that time, but Menanno scored big this week after waking up to a $122,619 Pools win.

“I woke up early on Tuesday after the Monday night (NFL) games and checked my ticket on the OLG app. I was so excited all night; I couldn’t sleep,” he said of the win while picking up his cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“I was pleasantly surprised to see how much I’d won,” Menanno said, adding he “didn’t expect it to be that much.”

“I must have checked my ticket three or four times, comparing my picks to the results, to make sure it was real,” he said. “It feels rewarding, like an accomplishment.”

The Brampton winner said he “watched the experts and did my research” before making his calls.

“It was a thrill to have all my predictions pan out,” he said. “I am so happy and thankful.”

Menanno said he plans to put some of his winnings toward his mortgage and take a vacation where he can soak up the sun on a sandy beach.

With no odds or spreads, the OLG says Pools is “the easy way to bet on sports” with a $5 wager allowing you to pick your sport and Card number and select who you think will win each matchup.

The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Petro-Canada on Hurontario Street in Brampton.
