The William Osler Health System is looking for scientifically-minded students with an eye for research.

Osler is looking for five university and college students for its Summer Student Research Program (SSRP) – a paid work program that gives students the chance to gain research experience in a community hospital setting while working with researchers across many different disciplines.

This year’s program will run from May 8 to Aug. 23 and will see students work at an Osler facility to design and execute a research project with the help of an Osler clinician supervisor.

There is also a chance to interact with patients directly and observe the daily functions of a clinical environment while working with researchers across many disciplines.

Student positions are paid and selected students will be expected to work full-time hours for the duration of the program. Research students will be required to work and travel between Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and the Peel Memorial Centre.

To qualify for the program students must have completed at least two years of post-secondary education, ideally in a health-related discipline with plans to return to school in the fall.

Applicants are expected to have excellent computer skills, an ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and a keen attention to detail. And, ue to the ongoing pandemic, students must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to be considered for the program.
