Student stabbed, one school on lockdown and person in custody in Brampton

One person is in custody following the stabbing of a student and a school lockdown in Brampton on Tuesday morning (Oct. 10).
The incident happened in the area of Steeles Avenue and Kennedy Road in Brampton shortly before 10:15 a.m., Peel Regional Police say.
Police said a student had been stabbed and suffered a “very minor injury.”
One school in the area was placed on lockdown, but a police spokesperson could not comment on whether the stabbing happened at the school.
Police declined to comment on which school was in lockdown, and there are several in the area where the incident took place including Turner Fenton Secondary School, Sir Wilfrid Laurier P.S., Peel Alternative School North, and William. G. Davis Public School.
Peel police said one person was taken into custody and the lockdown was lifted by around 11:40 a.m.
Police said parents and students can expect a “large police presence” in the area while officers are on the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
