Stranger attacks person outside a Mississauga community centre, police charge man

A person was attacked with a weapon outside a Mississauga community centre and suffered serious injuries on the weekend.
The victim was outside the Meadowvale Community Centre area in Mississauga around 6:13 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 23) when a man attacked the person with a weapon, Peel Regional Police said in a press release.
There is no reason to believe that the attack was provoked by the victim, police said. Police believe the two people did not know each other.
The victim sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police didn’t reveal the age or sex of the victim.
Shortly after the assault, police located and arrested a man.
A 38-year-old man from Mississauga was charged with aggravated assault.
He was held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice.
