‘Stories of Home’ shares how diverse families found belonging in Mississauga and Brampton at PAMA

The 'Stories of Home' exhibit is on this September at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) in Bramtpon.

A new fall lineup of exhibitions are sharing the history of how people found a place to belong in Mississauga and Brampton and some of the amazing places hiding in Peel Region.

The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives is ready to welcome guests to its September offering of exhibitions, events, and programs including the new “Stories of Home” exhibit.

Here are some of the exhibits on this September at PAMA:

Stories From Home

A collection of personal stories, video, images and objects, Stories From Home showcases connections between the Peel of the past, today and the future.

“Throughout history finding a home in Peel has been exciting, overwhelming and at times, difficult. This exhibit explores the ideas around establishing connection to place, and people in creating a sense of belonging that strengthens community,” the Stories of Home description reads.

Mississauga and Brampton residents can even become a part of Stories From Home by submitting their own photos, stories or videos to the exhibit.

Peel’s 50th Anniversary Treasures from the Vaults

Discover the story of Peel to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Peel Region and its predecessor the County of Peel created more than 170 years ago. Join Regional Archivist Kyle Neill and explore a range of rarely seen treasures found in Peel’s archival vaults, each shedding light on the important work of the County as well as the early days of its regional successor.

Henna Workshop with Sofia Mian

This workshop lets you get hands-on experience as you explore beginner henna techniques and tips, practice applying a design, and leave with a sample henna application the professional henna artist. Continue the celebration through exploring the Banquets and Belonging exhibit and explore moments of celebration and joy across different cultures in the GTA.

Culture Days: Brampton African History Museum at PAMA

This Culture Days event explore will African history and traditions in the heart of Brampton. Discover African heritage through talks on language, history, and the impacts of colonialism, and enjoy a performance from Master Drummer Griot Amadou Kienou.
