Two people face theft and other charges after police in eastern Ontario seized several stolen weapons, including a replica firearm that was rigged to fire marbles.
Ontario Provincial Police street crime unit officers recovered the stolen property — which also included a motorcycle, among other items — and made the arrests, the most recent of which took place on Monday.
Police said in a news release on Wednesday the officers seized the property and arrested two suspects in Stone Mills Township, northwest of Kingston. The stolen items had been taken from a hunt camp in the area in two separate thefts.
The police investigation began after a theft at a hunt camp on Oct. 19, which led to an arrest last Thursday.
The second arrest was made this past Monday in relation to the second theft, police said.
During the most recent arrest, officers seized a firearm and a replica firearm that had been converted to fire marbles.
The second person arrested, a 34-year-old resident of Yarker, northwest of Kingston, faces numerous charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft under $5,000 and break-and-enter (two counts).
The other suspect, a 40-year-old resident of Yarker, is charged with theft, break-and-enter, and fail to comply with a probation order.
