Stolen gun seized, man charged after complaint of threats in Mississauga

Gun charges laid against Mississauga man.

A Sudbury-area man faces weapons and other charges after police responded to a complaint of threatening in Mississauga on Tuesday.

Peel Regional Police said officers have recovered a stolen handgun in connection with their investigation, which was prompted by a complaint of threatening in the Mississauga Valleys area of the city.

A subsequent search warrant executed by police resulted in the recovery of the stolen gun, police said.

Nigel Rampersad, 36, of Chelmsford, northwest of Sudbury, is charged with:

  • utter threats to cause death or bodily harm (three counts)
  • knowledge of an unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • careless storage of firearm, weapon prohibited device or ammunition (two counts)
  • unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • possess firearm with altered serial number
  • possession of firearm contrary to order (two counts)

He was held for a bail hearing in Brampton court.
