A Whitby driver faces charges after being pulled over in a stolen car in Peterborough.

The black SUV was driving on Highway 115 on Sept. 3 when witnesses called to report it was believed stolen. The caller described the car and the driver to the 911 operator. They also mentioned there were several people inside.

Peterborough OPP officer set up on the highway ahead of the SUV and stopped it as it approached. They concluded the car was indeed stolen and arrested the driver and two passengers.

The driver, Patricia Chartrand, 49 of Whitby, was also found to have a suspended license. She’s been charged with driving while suspended and possession of stolen property. She’s since been released with conditions.

The two passengers were also released. However, one was re-arrested for an outstanding warrant. The OPP did not name this person or specify their charges.
