A three-time Stanley Cup champion, a Toronto Maple Leafs legend and half a dozen more NHLers will lace up their skates for a good cause in Brampton this summer.

The third-annual Hockey Night in Brampton is coming to the CAA Centre in August with Toronto Maple Leaf veterans Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmore returning to coach two teams of all-stars in a charity match-up.

NHL defenseman and Canadian Gold medalist Chris Pronger and two-time Olympic Gold-medalist-turned broadcaster Tessa Bonhomme have already signed up for the charity game, along with new additions including Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Chelios.

Chelios went on to win three Stanley Cups after he was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1981. He won three Norris Trophies as the league’s best defenseman during his 26-year career and played in 11 NHL All-Star Games.

Legendary former Toronto Maple Leafs Captain Daryl Sittler has also been tapped for the Hockey Night in Brampton puck drop. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989, Sittler set a record in 1976 for the most points scored in a single NHL game.

But it won’t just be former stars who take the ice on Hockey Night as current NHLers Dylan Strome, Erik Gudbranson, Cole Perfetti, Liam Foudy, Jack McBain and Travis Barron have all also been added to the roster with more to come.

Last year’s event raised a record-breaking $1 million for the William Osler Health System’s upgrade of Peel Memorial and another $1 million for the John Tavares Foundation, and this year the city says it hopes to break that record and raise even more funds.

Launched in 2019, Hockey Night in Brampton has raised over $1.4 million for the Osler Foundation with $1 million going towards the new Peel Memorial Hospital and over $400,000 supporting cardiac care.

Hockey Night in Brampton returns to the CAA Centre on Aug. 21. For more information or to find out about sponsorship opportunities visit www.hockeynightbrampton.ca.
