A Brampton man’s dreams of fixing up a sports car and home renovations are coming true after a $100,000 lottery win.

Leon Johnson is a 51-year-old from Brampton who says he’s been a regular Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max player for years.

The manufacturing worker picked up an Encore play in the March 18 Lotto 6/49 draw, a decision that paid off with a $100,000 prize.

“I don’t always say yes to Encore, but I’ll reconsider that now,” Johnson said with a laugh while picking up his winnings at the OLG prize centre in Toronto.

Johnson said he checked his ticket while at home watching TV and that the win “didn’t register at first.”

“I had to scan it several times to be sure it was real. It was an unbelievable moment,” he said.

Johnson plans to use the winnings to complete some home renovations, work on his Mustang, and take his parents out for a nice dinner to celebrate.

“I have moments of joy, but I’m having to tell myself that it’s real still. It’s so much to absorb,” he said.

Encore offers 22 ways to win with a draw every day and can be played along with most lottery games for an extra $1. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.

The winning ticket was purchased at Avo Convenience on Sandalwood Parkway in Brampton.
