Speeding truck in 50 km/h zone pulled off the road leads to charges for Brampton driver

Police have pulled a trucker from Brampton off the road after they were allegedly caught driving nearly double the speed limit in a 50 km/h zone.

The OPP says an officer was working radar speed enforcement along Dawson Road near Skyline Avenue in Thunder Bay on Tuesday when they spotted a speeding commercial motor vehicle.

Police say the truck driver was witnessed driving at 92 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

The officer pulled over the 29-year-old driver from Brampton who was arrested and charged with a stunting charge and fail to equip commercial motor vehicle with ELD (Electronic logging device) as required.

Police suspended the driver’s licence for 30 days while the vehicle was impounded for two weeks.

The OPP says members of the public are urged to report impaired, aggressive or careless driving by calling 911 when safe to do so. Complaints of impaired, aggressive or careless driving can also be made by calling 1-888-310-1122.
