Speeding tow truck driver in a bike lane charged in Brampton, police say

A tow truck driver got a lesson in irony after being hauled away by police after allegedly driving nearly double the speed limit in Brampton, police say.

The traffic stop happened earlier this week when officers with the Peel Regional Police road safety team spotted a tow truck speeding near McMurchy Avenue and Steeles Avenue in Brampton.

Police say the truck’s male driver was travelling at 90 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

The man was also driving in a bike lane, police said.

Police say the driver was hit with charges of stunt driving and disobey sign, and a picture shared by officers shows a black GMC truck outfitted with towing equipment that had been loaded onto a flatbed trailer.

The name of the accused has not been released.
