Vehicles vandalized leads to search for suspects south of Hamilton

Police have taken a Bampton driver off the road after allegedly going more than 50 km/h over the speed limit in Guelph.

The high-speed traffic stop happened while officers with the Wellington County OPP were working traffic enforcement on the Hanlon Parkway in Guelph around 2:45 p.m.

That’s when police say they spotted a driver travelling “at a high rate of speed” more than 50 km/h on the roadway that has a maximum speed limit that alternates between 70 km/h and 80 km/h.

Police say an investigation has led to charges against a 57-year-old Brampton resident who was also hit with a licence suspension.

The OPP says the 57-year-old driver from Brampton was charged with a stunting and a speeding. The accused was put under a 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound.

The accused is scheduled to make a court appearance in Guelph at a later date.
