Some Residents Can Get Funding for Running Events in Brampton

Do you have an idea for an event you want to run in Brampton? 

Do you have an idea for an event you want to run in Brampton? 

Well, if you are part of a Brampton-based not-for-profit organization or registered charity and your event falls under one of these program streams, you are eligible for some free money! 

That’s right, you can apply for the 2018 Community Grant Program for “community community activities that focus on celebrating Brampton’s diverse communities while encouraging engagement and connections with an end goal of heightening civic pride,” according to the City of Brampton. 

Here are the funding streams and amounts, courtesy of the City:

1) Festivals and Sporting Events 

  • For new festivals: 50 per cent of eligible expenses to a maximum of $12,500
  • For established festivals: 50 per cent of eligible expenses to a maxiumum of $65,000
  • For sporting events: 50 per cent of eligible expenses to a maximum of $65,000

2) Arts and Culture Capacity Building

  • 50 per cent of eligible expenses to a maximum of $12,500

3) Recreation Capacity Building

  • 50 per cent of eligible expenses to a maximum of $12,500

4) Neighbourhood Initiatives (opens January 2, 2018)

  • Up to $1,000 in matching funds

If you’re eligible to apply, here are the key dates for applications, according to the city:

  • January 15, 2018: application phase one closes
  • Late February 2018: recommendations for funding to Council
  • March 5, 2018: application phase two opens (dependent on available funding)
  • March 30, 2018: application phase two closes
  • Late April 2018: recommendations for funding to Council
