Some chocolates recalled in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and beyond

Chocolate fans in Mississauga, Brampton and surrounding areas should double-check their stash as one chocolate shop recalls peanut butter treats because of a possible salmonella contamination.
Sweet Spot Chocolate Shop brand peanut butter-containing chocolates
Risk: Sweet Spot Chocolate Shop brand chocolates with peanut butter have been recalled due to possible salmonella contamination. All units sold up to and including May 25, 2022. Sweet Spot Chocolate Shop has a physical location in Nova Scotia but the chocolates were available for sale online as well. The following are all the different varieties of products being recalled.
Assorted chocolate boxes with a clear top in sizes of 9, 20 and 52 chocolates. Assorted chocolates in a white box in sizes of 160g, 300g and 600g. Dark Peanut Butter Cup, Peanut Butter Balls, Peanut Butter Bites, Peanut Butter Cloud, Peanut Butter Balls, Peanut Butter Bites, Peanut Butter Cup, Peanut butter lovers box, Peanut Butter Meltaway in 6 Pc and 9 pc, Peanut Butter Patty 45 g.
What you should do: Health Canada recommends calling your doctor if you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.
When food is contaminated with salmonella it may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause sickness. Those with weakened immune systems are especially at risk of contracting serious illness and deadly infections. Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
