Snowstorms in the U.S. could impact flights out of Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga during the busy American Thanksgiving travel weekend.
Stormy weather bringing a mix of rain and snow was expected in the northeast region of the U.S. from Wednesday night and throughout the day on Thursday, according to weather forecasters.
Up to 15 centimetres of snow was expected in areas in the interior of the northeast such as upstate New York.
Officials at Pearson Airport are monitoring the unsettled weather during this busy travel time.
“Around 14,000 passengers are expected to fly to the U.S. today for American Thanksgiving,” Pearson said in a post on X. “Travellers heading south of the border should be aware that unsettled weather along the U.S. eastern seaboard could impact their flights.”
Pearson Airport reported a light “dusting of snow” Thursday. More snow is forecast for the weekend.
“But we are ready with over 100 pieces of specialized snow removal equipment on standby,” the airport said.
