Smoke is expected to blanket Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and much of southern Ontario tomorrow.
The smoke is drifting across the province from forest fires in Ontario, according to Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
There were 67 active wildfires across the Ontario fire region at the start of the week, the ministry said in a tweet. Of those fires, 19 were out of control.
“Heavy smoke drift is still expected across Ontario today,” the ministry said.
And after thunderstorms and heavy rainfall yesterday and today, Environment Canada is forecasting widespread smoke for Wednesday (June 28) for Mississauga, Hamilton, Brampton, Halton Region, Durham Region and much of southern Ontario.
Temperatures could reach a high of 25 C.
“Local smoke becoming widespread smoke near noon,” Environment Canada said about the Niagara Region.
The good news is clearer skies are expected on Thursday and into the long weekend. But right now, Environment Canada is predicting a chance of rain on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
