A small plane crash landed at a local airport near Barrie, Ontario shortly after noon on Tuesday.

Orillia OPP said occupants of the single twin-engine prop aircraft were not injured and left the plane under their own power moments after it crash landed on the runway at the small airport in the town of Oro-Medonte.

Police in addition to Oro-Medonte firefighters and Simcoe County paramedics rushed to the crash scene just after noon to find the wreckage of the downed aircraft.

Police said the plane had been on a training flight Tuesday morning before it “crash landed into the airport runway.”

Authorities didn’t say exactly how many people were on board the small aircraft.

Officials with Canada’s Transportation Safety Board have been called in to investigate the incident. The national agency responds to serious incidents involving aircraft and other modes of transportation across the country.
