Peel Regional Police have been cleared of any wrongdoing in an incident where a man broke his collarbone.
The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was called in after the August 23, 2020 incident where a 47-year-old man suffered the fracture during his arrest in the Nelson St. and Main St. area of Brampton.
Police had been called to the scene to investigate an assault.
According to the SIU, during the arrest, the complainant resisted police and was taken to the ground. Later he complained of a sore shoulder.
In his report, SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that an arresting officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s arrest and injury.
