Sinkhole repairs underway in Mississauga

A large sinkhole that closed a road in Mississauga should be repaired soon.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on July 11, Ward 2 Councillor Alvin Tedjo alerted residents to the large sinkhole on South Sheridan Way.
The intersection at South Sheridan Way and Benedet Drive, near Winston Churchill Boulevard, was closed for the repairs.
Water was shut off to the area while the work proceeded.
But it appears Peel Public Works crews found a damaged pipe after some digging.
“The sinkhole got much bigger and deeper, but we’ve found the source!” Tedjo said in a tweet.
The damaged pipe was to be replaced overnight and if there are no issues, the fill-in and paving will be done today (July 13), Tedjo added.
The entire line is scheduled for replacement by Spring 2024, he added.
