Numerous gun charges for Brampton, Caledon residents after shots fired

A Brampton resident and four others from Caledon are among six people facing numerous gun and other charges after shots rang out early Friday morning in Caledon.

Caledon OPP said in a news release on Saturday afternoon that officers responded to a call of shots fired at about 2:10 a.m. yesterday morning in the area of Madawaska Road and McCormack Road.

“Two people were arrested shortly after police arrived in the area,” police said in the news release.

Four others were arrested later on Friday at a Caledon home with help from the OPP Emergency Response Team and the Canine and Tactics and Rescue Unit.

Police say they recovered several prohibited guns and ammunition in making the arrests.

A 23-year-old from Brampton, a 25-year-old from Cambridge and four people from Caledon all in their early 20s face a rash of firearms-related charges.

Police did not reveal their names or gender. All have been held for bail hearings.

The investigation continues.
