One person has died and three others were injured after an early morning shooting in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police reported a shooting on social media just before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, near the intersection of Rutherford Road South and Selby Road. The incident happened in an area surrounded by businesses, though police did not specify a particular location.

Investigators say one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were transported to hospital—one with serious injuries and the other with minor injuries.

The area between Rutherford Road, Glidden Road and Selby Road were closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation.

Officials later reported that a fourth person was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police have yet to release the identities, ages, or residences of the victims and no suspect description has been provided at this time.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by the Homicide Bureau.

Peel police say more information will be given at a later time.
