‘Shelter-in-place’ order leads to gun and drug charges for Brampton man in small Ontario town: police

Some residents were put on a lockdown in a small Ontario town leading to gun and drug charges laid against a man from Brampton.
The OPP says a shelter-in-place order was issued shortly after 9 a.m. on Friday for residents and businesses on Lisgar Avenue in the town of Tillsonburg, approximately 50 kilometres southeast of London.
Officers were out on patrol when they began an investigation looking for a man carrying a gun, according to reports.
Locals were asked to shelter-in-place while police were on the scene.
Police say a 19-year-old male suspect was located with the help of police emergency and canine teams. The lockdown was lifted a short while later.
An illegal firearm and some $10,000 worth of drugs were confiscated during the investigation, police say.
The OPP says a 19-year-old male from Brampton was arrested and charged with multiple offences including careless storage of firearm, two counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, and carrying concealed weapon.
The identity of the accused has not been released. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on a later date.
