Severe weather warning with 90 km/h winds in effect in southern Ontario

Those hot and humid conditions of late are resulting in strong winds and could result in quite the light show in the skies Wednesday night across southern Ontario.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Wednesday night. Winds reached 90 km/h in some locations.
Severe Thunder storm warning in effect in:
- Mississauga
- Brampton
- Oakville
- Milton
- Burlington
- Halton Hills
- Hamilton
- Niagara Region
- Durham Region
“Conditions are favourable for the development of sever thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts. Large hail, and rain,” said Environment Canada.
Up to “toonie sized” hail could also fall.
The thunderstorms will develop along a cold front that will move through the province this evening. Large hail could fall that can damage property and cause injury.
“Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles,” warned Environment Canada. “Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Environment Canada suggests residents head indoors.
Severe thunderstorms watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce on or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall.
Environment Canada asks residents to continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by them.
