Seven-time Juno nominee headlines Burlington jazz series

The versatile musical stylings of Ammoye will take centre stage when Jazz on the Plaza returns to Burlington.
Mixing her reggae with rock-steady, dancehall, dubstep, soul, gospel and R&B, Ammoye has entertained audiences for several years appearing regularly at jazz festivals and small concert venues across North America.
Seven times Ammoye has been nominated for a Juno award with the most recent being in 2023 for her album Water in the “Reggae Recording of the Year” category. Water was also nominated for a Grammy.
Jazz on the Plaza is a favourite summertime series for many in Burlington, showcasing several emerging and established Canadian artists.
It takes place at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre in the outdoor plaza at the corner of Elgin Street and Locust Street.
Ammoye will perform Aug. 11 at 2 p.m.
Other artists featured during the two-day event include the African-pop and hip-hop-influenced LAVI$H (Aug. 10 at 2 p.m.), and A Michael Buble Tribute featuring Jay Davis (Aug. 10 at 4 p.m.)
Joining Ammoye on Aug. 11 will be jazz vocalist Heather Bambrick who performs at 4 p.m.
All shows are free to attend and chairs are set up in the plaza but you can also bring your own.
