A second shooting north of the city could be linked to a fatal attack where a man was shot dead in a driveway in Brampton, investigators say.
Officers responded to a report of gunshots in the Goreway Drive and Mayfield Road area around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Peel Regional Police say.
One male victim was killed in the shooting and another was rushed to hospital in stable condition.
But another shooting investigation in Caledon could be linked to the fatal attack, police say.
The second shooting happened around 12 a.m. on Thursday, around half an hour after the first incident.
Police say the shooting happened near a residence on Centreville Creek Road in Caledon, approximately 12.5 kilometres north of the fatal Brampton shooting.
A spokesperson with the OPP confirmed to INsauga.com that both shootings are believed to be linked.
No injuries were reported in the second incident but police have closed off Centreville Creek Road between Healey Road and Mayfield Road. The closures are expected to be in place “for several hours” while police are on the scene, the OPP says.
A video posted online believed to be of the Brampton shooting shows two men clearing snow from a car when a white vehicle pulls up on the street.
The vehicle stops and a rear passenger door opens the door before firing several shots.
One of the approaching culprits fires numerous shots at close range at one of the men, the video shows, as the second victim appears to quickly run inside the home to safety.
Two people then get out of the car and walk towards the men in the driveway, with one firing multiple shots at close range as the second victim runs out of frame.
INsauga.com is choosing not to include the video due to its graphic content.
Peel police say they believe the shooting was targeted.
Investigators are looking for a white, four-door sedan and one or more suspects. The identity of the victim has not been released.
