A search is ongoing for a missing man who was last seen taking his sailboat out in Pickering’s Frenchman’s Bay.
Manfred, 87, has been missing since roughly 8 p.m. on Oct. 2. Durham Regional Police were called to his home for a wellness check that day but did not find him there. They next went to a marina near St. Martins Dr. and Bayly St. to see if he was there.
Investigators later learned Manfred took his sailboat out on Sept. 29. He left his home that day and went to the Frenchman’s Bay Marina before heading out into the lake around 12:30 p.m. He has not been seen or heard from since.
Police describe Manfred, who also goes by Fred, as a white man with a medium build standing 5-foot-10 with grey hair. He was wearing an orange or red hat, a blue shirt and beige pants when last seen. His sailboat is called Passat. It’s 25 feet long and carries an Ontario ID number of 50E99759.
