Robbery, kidnapping charges laid after alleged ‘assault’ outside Niagara Falls bar

A second man has been arrested in connection with an alleged abduction and robbery outside a Niagara Falls bar late last month.

An investigation into the incident has resulted in the arrest of Michael Velemirovich, 26, of Fort Erie. Velemirovich is facing charges for:

  • Robbery (Firearm)
  • Kidnapping with a firearm
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Breach of Probation order

Velemirovich was remanded into custody with a future court date.

The incident occurred outside a bar located at 5899 Main Street, between 2:15 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., on June 27, 2024,

Police allege two men, and a male victim were outside the bar when one man pulled out a black pistol firearm and pointed it at the victim, demanding that he get into a vehicle.

The victim refused and attempts were made by both men to push him into the vehicle while “assaulting him.” The victim was able to escape, but prior to that he was robbed of his jewelry.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

After a search warrant was issued on July 10, 2024 at a Niagara Falls residence located in the area of Culp Street and Drummond Road, police seized the following items:

  • 8 Grams of Powder Cocaine – estimated street value $9,600.
  • $1060 in Canadian Currency

Jared Patcheson, 22, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery (Firearm)
  • Kidnapping
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Possess Schedule I Substance for Trafficking (Cocaine)

Patcheson was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was expected to take place on July 11, 2024, in St. Catharines.
