Residents or those planning to travel to the Brampton area are advised of major road closures due to the Sikh Martyrdom Parade.
The Sikh Martyrdom Parade, also called Nagar Kirtan, is a religious tradition regularly practiced by Brampton’s Sikh community. The word “Nagar” means “town or neighbourhood,” while “Kirtan” describes the singing of hymns.
The parade will start at Dixie Road and Bovaird Drive East, proceed eastbound along Sandalwood Parkway, crossing major north and south roads, and continue to Humberwest Parkway and Queen Street.
Peel Regional Police say they will help facilitate the parade’s safe passage, which began at 11 a.m. this morning and concludes at 6 p.m. tonight.
Drivers are asked to use alternate routes for the time being.
TRAFFIC ALERT:
-There will be periodic road closures as PRP facilities the safe passage of the Sikh Martyrdom Parade until 6pm.
-The parade will travel E/B along Sandalwood Pky in #Brampton crossing major North/South roads to Humberwest Pky.
-Please use alternate routes.
