There will be several road closures in Brampton beginning Saturday afternoon and into the evening for the city’s annual Santa Claus Parade.
Peel Regional Police said in a social media post that the parade route is set to begin at Bramalea Road and Central Park Drive, travelling north along Bramalea Road and ending at North Park Drive and Jordan Boulevard. Closures are expected to remain in place from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Public transit routes, including 9 Vodden, 12 Grenoble, 15 Bramalea, and 19 Fernforest, will be temporarily detoured during this time.
Additional closures will be in effect on Central Park Drive from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., impacting Route 19 Fernforest. However, Routes 29 Williams and 17 Howden will continue to operate on their regular routes.
The parade itself starts at 5 p.m., bringing holiday cheer as Santa Claus makes his grand arrival from the North Pole.
For those attending the parade, parking is available at several downtown locations including City Hall Garage, West Tower Garage, Market Square Garage, Nelson Square Garage, George Street North Surface Parking Lot and John Street Garage.
Police are advising those planning to travel or living near the affected areas to use alternate routes and are reminding residents to dress warmly as they head out to enjoy the festivities.
