An elderly pedestrian is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle in Mississauga on Wednesday night.

The collision happened on Rathburn Road West near Confederation Parkway around 6:15 p.m., Peel Regional Police told INsauga.com.

A police spokesperson confirmed an “elderly male” pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and was in life-threatening condition.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and police have closed Rathburn Road in both directions between Elora Drive and Living Arts Drive, police say.

No time frame has been given for how long the closures will be in place and police are asking drivers to avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.

And an elderly man was injured in a hit-and-run early Wednesday morning at Britannia Road East and Hurontario Street.
