A major residential development proposed for West-Central Brampton will see more housing units than originally planned.
The development by Great Gulf Homes now calls for 1,089 housing units with a mix of single detached homes, semi-detached homes, townhouses and apartments.
There was previously an approved application to build 448 single detached homes and a commercial block on the site located on the west side of Mississauga Rd. between Embleton Rd. and Lionhead Golf Club Rd. A proposal to amend the rules to allow the new plan will go before the Brampton planning committee tonight (Dec. 7).
Specific details of the new development propose:
• 383 single detached dwellings on 10.4 metre (34.1 feet) and 11.6 metre (38.0 feet) wide lots
• 136 semi-detached dwellings on 14.6 metre (47.9 feet) wide lots
• 150 townhouse dwellings on 6.1 metre (20.0 feet) wide lots
• Four apartment buildings with a maximum height of 6 storeys and a total of 420 units
• A 1.7 acres park
The proposal will be scrutinized by City staff to look at such issues as the impact on the land and the surrounding community including traffic, infrastructure and school accommodation.
As per City rules, a public meeting will be held to discuss the development application and a final report on will be presented to the planning committee in the new year.
