Breakfast can definitely be the best meal of the day if you go all out with it. Bacon and eggs, toast, waffles, pancakes loaded with syrup — what’s not to love?
Thankfully for Mississauga’s breakfast lovers, the city’s got a great selection of all-day breakfast joints so you can enjoy the most important meal of the day at any time of day. For example: Bobby’s Hideaway, one of Mississauga’s most popular breakfast spots.
The restaurant is located in Streetsville (20 Queen St N) with a second location in Port Credit (398 Lakeshore Rd E). In addition to their breakfast specials, Bobby’s serves a variety of sandwiches, omelettes, pancakes, French toast and waffles. On their lunch/dinner menu you’ll find burgers, pasta, wings and more.
THE DISHES:
I hadn’t tried Bobby’s before so for this review I went with one of their most popular breakfast specials, The Weekender: Bacon, ham, sausage, three eggs, two pancakes, homefries, Texas toast, thin slices of tomato, and coffee or tea.
Let’s get this out of the way: This is a huge meal, so make sure you’ve got an empty stomach first. The portions are big and everything is nice and filling — the rare combination of quantity and quality.
Everything here was good — my favourites were the crispy bacon and juicy sausage. The thick, crunchy slices of Texas toast also paired amazingly with the eggs, which I got sunny-side up (you can also choose to get them scrambled, over-easy, over-medium, over-hard, poached, or hard-boiled). The generously portioned homefries were soft and perfectly seasoned.
To save the sweet for last: The pancakes were thick and tasted incredibly fluffy, with a pleasant sweetness even without syrup (but naturally I poured it on anyway). For those craving the perfect pancake, these ones definitely don’t disappoint.
THE UNIQUE:
As mentioned, there is both quantity and quality here. Bobby’s doesn’t hold back on their portions, and the result is a huge breakfast dish loaded with delicious carbs and meat. Not only does the Weekender taste great, it’s a good dish if you’re new to the restaurant and want to try as much as possible, all in one dish.
THE VERDICT:
Bobby’s Hideaway is a fantastic breakfast joint, and one we believe is currently the best in all of Mississauga, hitting the top of our list of Top 5 Breakfast Restaurants. If you’re craving great breakfast food and a lot of it, I would definitely recommend the Weekender.
