A Mississauga home, just north of Pearson Airport, went up in flames Monday evening.

A resident escaped and called 911 as flames moved to both the front and rear doors of the home on Knaseboro Street last night (Feb. 26), said Mississauga Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi in a post on X around 9:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported, she added.

The second-alarm fire extended to the second floor. Crews arrived and flowed water through the front entrance and entered the rear of the home, Rizzi said.

Crews engaged in “aggressive fire suppression” efforts, Rizzi said.

“Swift action and aggressive tactics by firefighters resulted in a good stop,” she added.

There was “significant” damage to the home, according to a spokesperson for Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services.

The Office of Emergency Management arranged short-term accommodations for the displaced residents. It is not known how many residents were in the home.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Crews remained on scene overnight for a fire watch.
