Region of Peel to add COVID-19 vaccination policy in Mississauga, Brampton

The regional government that covers both Mississauga and Brampton has passed a COVID-19 vaccination policy.
On Thursday (Aug. 26), the Region of Peel announced it will require all Regional employees to disclose and provide documentation of their COVID-19 status. The policy is expected to be in place by the end of October.
Employees who are not fully vaccinated will be required to complete educational programming about the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccination. They will also need to provide regular negative COVID tests.
“Thanks to the commitment and vigilance of our staff, we have been able to maintain most of our services throughout the pandemic,” said Janice Baker, chief administrative officer for trhe region. “This policy is meant to encourage our staff to get vaccinated to help our community find a path back to normal.”
A firm date for applying the policy has not been decided.
