RED CARD CLOSURE: Food safety violations shutter golf club restaurant in Caledon

Officials have closed a restaurant at a golf club after failing a health inspection last week in Caledon.

Peel Public Health says inspectors found issues while at the Sand Trap Restaurant at the Banty’s Roost Golf Club in Caledon on Nov. 22.

An inspection report shows two violations – one for non-compliance for failing to “provide a supply of potable hot and cold running water under pressure” and another for not keeping “food premises free from any condition that is a health hazard.”

The golf club has a restaurant and a banquet facility at 12600 Bramalea Rd. The restaurant has been temporarily closed with no set date for reopening, according to Peel Public Health.

The region regularly inspects food, child care, and other facilities like pools and hot tubs for health and safety concerns. Results can range from a Green Card with no violations, a Yellow Card conditional pass, or a Red Card which can result in closures.
