Another week brings another round of recalls.
Ontario residents are asked to check their homes for potentially hazardous products, including food items that may contain metal pieces and household items posing flammability, fire or burn risks.
Here’s what’s being recalled this week:
Balloon blowing kits
The balloon-blowing kits are toys that allow children to create balloons or bubbles using a solvent mixture and plastic straws.
The kits involve squeezing a small amount of the solvent mixture from a tube onto the end of a straw. Children then blow through the straw to inflate a bubble or balloon. The agency is urging parents to stop using these products, citing safety concerns.
The recall includes the following products:
- 15 pieces Bubble Ball Toy, Burst-Free Plastic Balloon, Colorful Magic Bubble Glue, Perfect Boys and Girls Gift (ASIN B0CXSTMWMQ)
- 2024 New Safe Magic, Bubble Glue Toy, Blowing Colorful Bubble Ball Plastic Space Balloon Fashion Accessories (ASIN B0C6THCKSB)
- Safe Magic Bubble Glue Toy Blowing Colorful Bubble Ball Plastic Space Balloon (ASIN B0C54V2QQG)
Health Canada has banned balloon-blowing kits under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, citing safety concerns.
The agency says the products have been removed from sale on Amazon.ca, and foreign third-party sellers have been contacted. Consumers are being urged to stop using the kits immediately.
