RECALL: ‘Piece of metal’ leads to granola bar brand pulled from shelves in Ontario

MadeGood says refunds will be made available at the retailer where the products were purchased.

Over a dozen types of granola bars all under the same brand have been voluntarily pulled from shelves after they were found to possibly contain “a piece of metal,” the company says.

The granola bars were produced by MadeGood between January and November 2024 and “may contain a piece of metal,” the company said in a release.

While there haven’t been any injuries reported, MadeGood says it has “voluntarily” recalled 13 types of granola bars that may contain metal shards.

“We have addressed the source of the issue and are conducting the voluntary recall with the knowledge of regulatory authorities,” MadeGood said, adding it started the recall “out of an abundance of caution.”

The recalled granola bars include:

  • Chocolate Banana Granola Bars with UPC number 687456213040.
  • Chocolate Chip Granola Bars with UPC numbers 10687456216017, X002CYW2IB, 687456213019, X001TO8QCB, 687456216119, 687456216300, 687456217062, and 10687456216444.
  • Chocolate Chip Mini Granola Bars with UPC numbers 10687456214532 and 10687456215973.
  • Mixed Berry Granola Bars with UPC numbers 10687456216024, X002CYZ8M3, 687456213026, 10687456216468.
  • Cookies & Creme Granola Bars with UPC number 687456213750.
  • Strawberry Granola Bars with UPC number 687456213170
  • Chocolate Drizzled Birthday Cake Granola Bars with UPC numbers 687456214139, X002UAC79V, 687456215747, 687456215822 and 10687456216932.
  • Chocolate Drizzled Vanilla Granola Bars with UPC numbers 687456214122 and X002VWC1ZD.
  • Chocolate Drizzled Cookie Crumble Granola Bars with UPC numbers 687456214146 and X002VWCL2L.
  • Chocolate Drizzled Granola Bars 720g (30 bars) Variety Pack with UPC number X002ZQLF4X.
  • MadeGood Variety Pack with UPC number X0043RPWYV.
  • MadeGood Variety Pack with UPC number X00347PCCN.

The company says refunds will be made available at the retailer where the products were purchased.
