Health Canada has recalled certain USB charging devices sold on Amazon due to what it calls an “unreasonable risk of electric shock.”
The charger is called the Power-7 Model US2018 and was sold in packs of five and two on Amazon.ca, according to Health Canada.
The affected 2.1A/5V dual port USB cube power cubes were found to pose a shock risk during an evaluation, and Health Canada says anyone who purchased the chargers should stop using them immediately and dispose of the product.
The chargers are white with a grey stripe and the model number US2018 can be found on the prong side of the adapter.
Amazon reported 97,113 sales of the affected product in Canada between August 2020 and March 2024. No incidents or injuries related to this product have been reported.
Chargers caught under the recall will have Amazon Standard Identification Numbers of B083LBZX1F and B082XPSDFL.
Health Canada says the chargers have been removed for sale on Amazon and officials have contacted a foreign third-party seller advising consumers to immediately stop using the product.
The chargers were manufactured in China by Love Chen technology Inc.
