A Brampton truck driver, charged in the deadly crash that killed a Manitoba mother and daughter, has fled after being treated in hospital for the injuries he suffered.
The RCMP say the man was taken to hospital following the Nov. 15 crash at a highway intersection near Altona, about 100 km south of Winnipeg.
A 35-year-old woman, a driver of an SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 8-year-old daughter was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
Police say the tractor-trailer truck went through a stop sign and struck the SUV.
Today (Nov. 21), police say they cannot find 25-year-old Navjeet Singh of Brampton following his release from hospital.
Singh is charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and with obstructing a peace officer.
“Officers have attempted to locate Mr. Singh in Winnipeg without success and as a result, a Canada-Wide Warrant of Arrest has been issued,” reads a statement released by the RCMP.
Investigators believe the man could be in Brampton.
Information about Singh’s whereabouts can be relayed to Pembina Valley RCMP at 204-822-5469 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
