Quebec-bound Kangaroo – located but still on the loose – escaped handlers during transfer

The kangaroo on the loose in north Oshawa was staying overnight at the nearby Oshawa Zoo as a stop on its way to a zoo in Quebec when it escaped its handlers during the transfer process, media reports are claiming.
The marsupial was spotted hopping – at great speed – westbound on Winchester Road from Harmony Road at 7:43 a.m. Friday by a passing motorist and has since been spotted at least 30 times.
The missing kangaroo had been located and rescuers were waiting for the animal to be tranquilized so it can safely continue on its journey. The kangaroo, however, hopped away from rescuers and darkness meant the search will be postponed until the morning with the hope the animal can withstand a night in the cold.
Team Chelsea lost pet search group and Durham Police were both cautioning people who see the animal to not try and catch it. “There are people in the area experienced with handling kangaroos If you see it call Team Chelsea at (905) 666-4676 and try and keep it in sight.”
The Oshawa Zoo has been around on Grandview Road for more than 30 years, mostly caring for orphaned animals.
